My Story
Hi, my name is Alice and I am the owner of Eden Medical Aesthetics & Skincare. This information here is where I introduce me, my background and how I came to be where I am now. So, apologies if this goes on lol!
I started off my career as a Nurse in Critical Care at the Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. Nursing is a vocation and what drew me into it was my love for helping people.
As a little girl I was always wanting to make people around me look and feel good, whether it was styling my sister’s hair or playing doctors and nurses with my friends. I always had this enthusiasm for care and helping others in my personality.
After completing my GCSE’s and A levels I wasn’t sure what the correct career path was for me, but I knew I had a keen passion and love for beauty. I enrolled onto the Beauty Therapy NVQ 2& 3 and qualified in 2006.
I worked in a fast-paced city centre salon until I was 20. This was a fantastic learning experience, however something was missing. I had a keen interest in Psychology and really wanted to go back into education. I decided to pursue this desire and pick up where I left off. I completed an Access to Social Sciences course and went onto study Sociology & Social Policy at Uni of Nottingham. After receiving my Joint BA Hons degree, I then went onto study Post Graduate Nursing in Mental Health. I went into this with the goal of working within Dementia care. I have always recognised the importance of the holistic approach and environmental factors which impact on our mental and physical wellbeing. After a weeks insight visit into Adult Nursing, I soon learned that this was just where I wanted to be. I began to carve a career within the Adult Nursing sphere.
I qualified as a Nurse in 2013. My first Nursing job was within Respiratory Medicine. I worked on Fleming Ward at the City Hospital Nottingham, which is busy, demanding yet incredibly rewarding. People used to frequently say; "If you can work on Fleming, you can work anywhere". I feel like that was a true quote! It equipped me with masses of experiences and knowledge. I stayed there for 18 months until I moved onto working on Adult Intensive Care at Queens Medical Centre 2015.
Working on Intensive Care was one of the most educational experiences of my entire life. It changed me as a person and made me much more appreciative of health and being alive. Keeping people alive, supporting relatives, responding to cardiac arrest, dealing with delirium and aggression and being super alert, all the time is a skill unique to this line of work.
Honestly if staffing was better and the working conditions improved, I would go back and work part time. It's a shame because the work ethic and teamwork is like no other. The things you see together, and experience together at all daft hours brings you so close to your colleagues.
Whilst working on AICU, I still aspired to be an entrepreneur and a business owner.
During all of the years I spent working as a Nurse, I never lost my love for holistic & beauty treatments and would often give massages or facials etc to friends and family. When at work I would jump at the opportunity to dry a patient's hair, paint their nails or give them a little massage. The dream goal felt far away but I knew someday I would take the leap. I felt sure I could combine my core values and knowledge learnt whilst Nursing and my skills gained as a Beauty Therapist and take this to building a business of Beauty and Aesthetics.
I finally took the plunge after talking for so many years and began learning and studying courses in Aesthetics 2018. After one was completed, I would sign up to another. This obsession with learning has continued to present. I am forever perfecting my skills and developing techniques for treatments I offer. I had renovated a room in my home and started to practice my new skills on friends and family.
In early 2019 I transferred to the Critical Care unit at City Hospital, Nottingham. I also took up a part time position as a clinic nurse at Transform Cosmetic Surgery clinic alongside my Nurse position on Critical Care. This introduced me to the Cosmetic world and gave me a great insight into surgical procedures, such as Liposuction, Rhinoplasty, Face lifts, abdominoplasty and aesthetics treatments. I was responsible for assessing and overseeing all patients pre- and post-surgery. It was completely different to working within the NHS and patients were actually `well`. I managed to juggle the two until the Covid pandemic hit in 2020.
During Covid, I was furloughed from Transform and started planning my business venture for Eden. I used this time to completely change the downstairs of my property and created a website and online booking. Eden officially launched April 2021. Anyone who has been coming to me for a while knows that there's always something new here or something has been improved somehow. I live and work at the address which I absolutely Love! It is cosy, inviting yet professional and clean. I feel blessed and grateful that I have this opportunity to do something which I genuinely enjoy. It doesn't feel like work and in fact most of my clients become more like friends. Your time here isn't just a transaction it can a lot of the time be a therapy session/ the one hour you get away from the busy home life etc.
The 9 years of Nursing experience has enabled me to understand and recognise the importance of educating my clients. It is paramount to my practice, that you feel equipped with the correct information. Informed consent is massive, and these can be some big decisions you make. I don't ever downplay this. I am a good listener and safety is at my core.
I offer a wide array of treatments from massage to injectables. My clients love that I am gentle and that I take my time, ensuring they’re comfortable. I feel like it is very important to have an artistic eye too. A lot of Aesthetic treatments require this to be able to place product in precisely the right place. Having worked within a hospital setting and nursing the most critical patients has taught me so much about the human body. I feel this has helped me significantly in many ways in that I am a safety conscious practitioner. My understanding of the anatomy and physiology, responding to emergency situations and being able to advise when a client is worried.
Many people assume that for example having cheek filler will make you look ridiculous when in fact, when performed by someone who knows what they're doing can really improve a person's facial structure. This boils down to training, experience, care and an artistic eye. A lot of the time I will suggest starting off by having facials to improve the skin and for you to feel more relaxed around me. This is an easy way of getting to know how I work without investing too much. Another reason
I opt for a facial treatment first is that your skin is a good basis for improving your overall look. Facials are great for people new to Aesthetics. It's the perfect opportunity to build rapport and trust. I can assess your skin further and address key concerns by improving your skin health. Treatments such as Microneedling are great for improving a multitude of skin concerns and don't involve chemicals or injections.
A common quote of mine is " I cannot tell you what I think you should have". I will say if I think a treatment is not necessary.
I will always promote less is more, encouraging great skin and an enhanced natural look.
My work and results are aimed at enhancing your natural beauty rather than changing your appearance. Each client brings with them a new project and a new goal. This is the beauty of my work. Whether you're someone who is looking to improve tired under eyes, reduce signs of ageing or resolve problematic skin, I love working with all clients to encourage them to feel confident in their own skin. I am here to educate & enable you to make your own informed decisions. I always create a person-centred holistic approach with all my clients.

Creating a serene and soothing atmosphere holds immense importance for me. Consistently, clients express a sense of safety and relaxation when they visit my clinic.
Recognising the pivotal role of ambiance in a salon or clinic setting, I've chosen to operate from my home, enabling me to craft an intimate environment where you can completely unwind. To ensure your comfort, I operate on an appointment-only basis, ensuring no other individuals wait around during your treatment.
Providing you with an honest assessment is a top priority. I'm dedicated to refraining from suggesting or agreeing to treat anything unnecessary. If I believe a treatment isn't warranted, I will decline to proceed. My approach revolves around the ethos of "Less is More." Specialising in aesthetic work aimed at rejuvenating your appearance and reducing signs of fatigue, I focus on subtle adjustments that enhance your natural features without a drastic change.
I strongly advocate for the "Natural Look." Your input and empowerment matter greatly to me. I encourage you to share your goals and offer feedback on your experience; we collaborate as a team. Meeting new people is genuinely enjoyable for me, and I value you not just as a client but as a unique individual.
Continuous growth and learning are fundamental beliefs of mine. I humbly acknowledge that I don't possess all knowledge and operate within my expertise to prioritize your safety. Educating you is a priority. Consultations are complimentary, casual, and serve as an opportunity for you to comprehend and explore your treatment options. I encourage further research, comparisons, and thoughtful consideration of your choices. The decision-making power rests in your hands—you're free to choose what, if anything, you desire and when it suits you.
